Wigton recognizes the need to foster economic development through education in Jamaica. The Company being mindful of the responsibility to give back to the community in which it operates has established the Wigton Windfarm Limited Scholarship with the University of the West Indies, Mona (UWI, Mona) and the Northern Caribbean University (NCU).
The scholarship will be awarded every two (2) years to one (1) student at each institution pursing any of the following undergraduate degrees:
• UWI, Mona: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Power Engineering, Civil Engineering or Electronics Engineering.
• NCU: Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Computer Systems Engineering.
Each student must have completed their second year of study, have a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and will receive an award of One Million Jamaican Dollars (J$1,000,000.00) annually for two (2) years to cover tuition and other school related expenditure once awarded the scholarship.
